How we learn

Our learning approach

La Moderna's educational model is based on the Learning.First™ approach, which places the student at the center of the process and prioritizes how they learn over what they learn. Through active methodologies, inquiry learning, and the use of technology, students develop critical thinking, creativity, and autonomy.

Progress is measured with international tools, allowing continuous improvement and solid preparation for certifications and access to global universities.

Learning at La Moderna

Learning.First™ is ISP's educational approach that puts learning at the center. It's a way of understanding education that drives each student to reach their full potential. We believe that meaningful learning occurs when students feel engaged, challenged, and accompanied. We work on this approach through the following principles:

High impact learning

We promote deep and meaningful learning, where students not only acquire knowledge, but also understand, apply and transfer it to new contexts. Through challenging and relevant experiences, they develop critical thinking, curiosity, and autonomy, achieving lasting results that impact their academic and personal development.

High impact learning

Student-led learning

We encourage students to actively participate in their learning process, making decisions and assuming a leading role. Through dynamic experiences, they develop autonomy, responsibility, and motivation, becoming conscious learners, capable of managing their progress and facing new challenges with confidence.

Student-led learning

Students as protagonists of learning

We make pedagogical decisions based on real data and evidence of each student's progress. Through continuous assessments and monitoring tools, teachers adapt teaching to respond to individual needs, ensuring effective, measurable, and constantly improving learning experiences.

Students as protagonists of learning

Personalized progress

Each student progresses at their own pace in an environment that recognizes their strengths and areas for improvement. We design personalized learning experiences that allow you to maximize your potential, promoting confidence, autonomy, and integral development at each stage of your training.

Teachers as facilitators of learning

Our teachers guide, accompany, and challenge students in their training process. More than transmitting knowledge, they design experiences that spark curiosity, encourage critical thinking and promote active, meaningful and student-centred learning. In addition, they have the accompaniment of professionals who strengthen emotional wellbeing, values, and coexistence.

Life skills

Learning goes beyond the classroom. We develop key competencies such as collaboration, resilience, communication, leadership, and critical thinking, preparing students to adapt and function successfully in an ever-changing world. All this through sports, artistic, and cultural activities that allow talents to be discovered and essential skills to be developed.

Reflection & continuous improvement

We encourage reflection as an essential part of learning. Students analyze their progress, identify achievements, and set goals, while the institution constantly evaluates and improves its educational practices to offer increasingly effective and relevant experiences.

Reflection & continuous improvement

Safe & stimulating environment

We create an environment where students feel valued, supported, and motivated to participate through the use of digital tools, assessments such as MAP Growth, and spaces that encourage creativity, robotics, and problem-solving. A positive and safe environment promotes wellbeing, confidence, and commitment, which are key elements for meaningful and lasting learning.

Global, connected learning

Being part of an international network allows students to access global experiences, collaborate with peers from different countries, and develop an open mindset. This connected learning strengthens their cultural understanding and prepares them to function in an international environment, including teaching English from an early stage and preparing for international tests such as the SAT.

La Moderna student profile

Our students face challenges with confidence, learn with curiosity, act with purpose, and understand that success is built through effort, continuous learning, and commitment. They also develop the skills to communicate in multiple languages, embrace an international outlook, and solve real-world problems.

Where learning comes first

Most schools talk about what they teach. We focus on how your child learns. Through the Learning.First™ approach, students reflect on their progress, explore new approaches and make decisions that drive their growth.

Curiosity fuels our learning

The best learning happens when students are actively engaged. We ignite curiosity through hands-on projects and inquiry-based learning, making learning exciting, memorable and full of exploration.

Confidence drives lifelong learning

Our students trust in their abilities, build confidence and lead their way forward. This mindset helps them believe they can learn and achieve anything, fostering a love for lifelong learning.

The power of 'Good Struggles'

We believe great learning happens just beyond the comfort zone. That's why we create purposeful challenges, or 'good struggles', that help students stay motivated while they grow. Through these experiences, students build resilience, solve problems, and learn to keep going – even when it's hard.

Teachers as co-pilots

Learning here is a partnership. Teachers work alongside students as guides, helping them navigate choices, embrace good struggles, inspire those 'aha' moments of self-discovery and grow in confidence.

Learning that keeps getting better

We do not assume that good teaching automatically means good learning. Through ISP’s Learning Improvement Process (LIP), teachers and leaders look closely at what students are learning, where they are making progress and where something needs to change.

That means we keep learning from what happens in classrooms and use that evidence to improve what happens next. For your child, it means a school that does not stand still -  one that keeps asking how learning can be better.
