A patriotic and civic event in celebration of Ecuador’s National Flag Day La Moderna held its traditional Pledge to the Flag ceremony, an annual event that renews respect and appreciation for Ecuador’s national symbols. On this occasion, the Ecuadorian flag played an essential role in encouraging younger generations to love and respect their country. In line with national and historical traditions, the 12th grade class proudly proclaimed a committed and responsible “Yes, I swear” in honour of their nation. The ceremony began at 8:00 am with the entrance of the school authorities, followed by the 2023–2024 national flag delegation, led by outstanding students. Nicole Serrano, flag bearer of the national flag; Luis Alfredo Enriquez, standard-bearer of the Samborondón flag; and José Andrés Rodríguez, standard-bearer of the school flag, proudly represented national commitment and respect alongside their escorts. Throughout their educational journey, these outstanding students have consistently demonstrated an exceptional civic commitment to becoming young people prepared to transform Ecuador and the world. During the ceremony, 116 students from La Moderna’s 36th graduating class, accompanied by their families and friends, solemnly promised to defend the glorious tricolour with honour, united by the rhythm of marching music and the fulfilment of this patriotic duty. On September 23, 1955, the National Congress issued a legislative decree declaring September 26 of each year as National Flag Day, requiring the flag to be raised as part of this historic celebration in Ecuador.
